Presidential Inauguration
The 60th Presidential Inauguration will take place on the National Mall in Washington, DC, on January 20, 2025. As the Presidential Inauguration ceremonies near, Senator Murkowski is pleased to have the opportunity to share the historic moment with Alaskans. At this time, the Senator does not know how many tickets will be distributed or how tickets will be available as that is up to the Presidential Inauguration Committee, but would like to begin collecting inquiries from interested Alaskans. The deadline to request tickets for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration is December 19, 2024.

In order to process your inquiry, all fields need to be completed. The Alaska Congressional Delegation works together and generally have a ticket lottery, meaning there is no need to request tickets through every Delegation member, as duplicative ticket requests will be condensed to one list.
Due to the limited number of tickets, Senator Murkowski will only able to offer tickets to Alaskans. If you reside outside of Alaska, please contact your home-state U.S. Senators and Representatives. We do not consider non-constituent requests.
2025 PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION UPDATE DECEMBER 2, 2024
Tickets will not be able to be mailed – they will have to be picked up in person at least one day prior. Which means tickets would likely be distributed on Sunday January 19, 2025 between 10-4pm.
The ceremony will commence on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol on Monday, January 20, 2025. Gates will open to ticketholders at 9:00 a.m. and a musical prelude will begin at 10:30 a.m. All guests will be required to go through vigorous security screening. There will also be long lines expected. Prohibited items include but are not limited to: firearms and ammo, explosives, knives/blades/sharp objects, mace/pepper spray, sticks/poles, pocket/hand tools/leathermans, packages, backpacks, large bags, duffel bags, suitcases, thermoses, coolers, strollers, umbrellas, laser pointers, signs/posters, alcohol, animals. They usually do not allow food items either. You would not be able to come and go once you enter the security perimeter.
- Viewing areas are well removed from the platform and standing room only. Please note, if we are unable to provide you with a ticket, you are still able to be on the National Mall and watch. There will be areas of the National Mall open to those that do not have tickets and screens will be scattered throughout those areas for people to view the ceremony.
- Tickets will not be distributed to the Congressional offices until at least a week prior to the Inauguration and they do not allow us to mail tickets.
- Lost tickets will not be replaced.
- January is historically cold and wet, so we urge you to pack accordingly. Layers are suggested.
You must plan your travel to arrive in time to pick up your tickets. If you are considering taking a flight to DCA or IAD please consider how late the flight arrives – we will not be distributing tickets after 5pm on Sunday 1/19 and I will not be able to provide tickets day of the Inauguration. This means you would have to pick them up on Saturday or Sunday prior to 5 or Friday. More information on the hours of operation will be forthcoming.
The Alaska State Society will be hosting a few events during the inauguration – please visit their website at www.alaskastatesociety.com
The Presidential Inaugural Committee is in charge of the official inauguration balls and parade information – that website doesn’t seem to be live yet but in the past they let you sign up for updates. There are a lot of unofficial inauguration balls that you can participate in as well – any internet search engine seems to bring them right up.
The Delegation will be hosting a coffee for all visiting Alaskans on Tuesday 1/21 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Senate Hart Building, room 902. I will take RSVPs for that specific event closer to the date.
Below are some frequently asked questions from prior inaugurations about the inauguration and your visit to Washington DC:
Unfortunately not. The Inauguration Committee generally only releases tickets to congressional offices a few days prior to the inauguration, thus we will be unable to mail tickets. You will have to be able to personally come to the office to pick up your tickets.
You will get an email with all pertinent information as the process unfolds. Once you fill out the initial inauguration form, you will receive a separate email confirming that you have been placed on the request list. If you do not hear from a member of my staff within one to two business days after you fill out the initial form, please email Kristen_daimler@murkowski.senate.gov. Tickets will only be released to those whose names they have been authorized for. Every person attending would need a ticket – that includes children and infants.
Generally, tickets will be standing-room only on the U.S. Capitol lawn and they are not allowed to be traded, sold or given away. You should plan on standing for at least three hours, if not more.
It is suggested you wear comfortable shoes and warm clothes. January is historically cold and wet in Washington, DC. There will also be long lines expected. Prohibited items include but are not limited to: firearms and ammo, explosives, knives/blades/sharp objects, mace/pepper spray, sticks/poles, pocket/hand tools/Leatherman’s, packages, backpacks, large bags, duffel bags, suitcases, thermoses, coolers, strollers, umbrellas, laser pointers, signs/posters, alcohol, and animals. Food items are also typically not allowed either. You will not be able to come and go once you enter the security perimeter. Please note that if you do not receive a ticket there are still opportunities to go and witness the inauguration further away on the National Mall and thus anyone can attend the Presidential swearing in.
The congressional offices are only given inauguration ceremony tickets (if you are interested in the balls or parade you should go to the Presidential Inauguration Committee website – we will update this information with that address once the website becomes live).
