Working to Open Government

Murkowski Calls for Quick Resolution

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) issued the following statement on the current government shutdown:

“Shutting down the government is no way to govern. It is disruptive, harmful, wasteful, and impacts the thousands of Alaskans who are federal employees, contractors and all who rely on the services provided by our federal agencies,” said Senator Murkowski. “I will continue working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle and in the House to get the government back open as fast as possible.”

On January 19, 2018, Senator Murkowski voted in favor of the Continuing Resolution (CR) to extend federal funding until February 16, 2018.  The CR, which would have avoided a federal government shutdown, failed to advance.  Senator Murkowski also joined the bipartisan Graham-Durbin proposal to address the DACA situation on January 17, 2018. Senator Murkowski remains committed to finding solutions to reopen the government and her offices will remain open to support Alaskans during this period.
