Senate Overrides President Obama’s Veto of 9/11 Lawsuit Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) released the following statement after she voted to override President Obama’s veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA).
“This bill, long demanded by families of 9/11 victims, provides victims of terror attacks with an avenue to justice by giving them an opportunity to have their case heard in court. I’m pleased that my Senate colleagues and I were successfully able to override President Obama’s veto. But it should not have ever come to that. This bill passed both the Senate and House unanimously, meaning that by vetoing this legislation, President Obama ignored the clear will of the people, plain and simple.”
