Murkowski Votes For Commerce Nominee Bryson
Senator Concerned With Candidate’s Lack of Fisheries Expertise
Senator Lisa Murkowski today voted for John Bryson, President Obama’s Nominee to head the Department of Commerce, issuing the following statement afterwards:
“I voted to confirm Mr. Bryson, but not without reservations. Though his experience in fisheries is lacking, he has received strong support across many sectors of our business community.”
“Just prior to the vote, I spoke with Mr. Bryson and received personal assurances that not only is he committed, but he knows and understands the significance of Alaska’s fisheries and the role he will play overseeing them. And ultimately, he committed to keeping a strong focus on those issues.”
