Murkowski Statement on Remembrance of 9/11 Attacks
Today U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski shared her thoughts on the 15th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on America:
“The grief, shock, and horror that I felt on September 11, 2001, will forever be etched in my memory.
“Today, 15 years later, we remember those who lost their lives in these terrible attacks. We pay tribute to the courage, bravery, and heroism shown by our first responders and fellow citizens who helped us make it through. And we honor all who have and continue to make tremendous sacrifices to keep us safe, at home and abroad, in our military and law enforcement communities.
“The anniversary of 9/11 is not just a day for remembrance, but also resolve. It is a stark reminder that we must remain united in the face of a continuing and growing terrorist threat, and that we must be vigilant in keeping our country safe.
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victims and families of 9/11, and all who remain in harm’s way on our behalf. I will continue to do all I can to help our first responders, including those who continue to undergo medical monitoring to identify chronic diseases and cancers resulting from toxic exposures at the site of these attacks. And I will do everything in my power to ensure that we are protected from those who wish us harm.”
