Murkowski Sharing Alaskan Ideas at Arctic Parliamentarian Conference
Senator Will Address International Conference, Bring Information Home to Alaskans
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Murkowski is participating in the 10th Conference of Parliamentarians of the Arctic Region this week, being held in Reykjavik, Iceland – including a presentation focused on “Economic Opportunities in the Arctic.” In addition to hearing of the trends and latest approaches being used by other Arctic nations, Murkowski will use this occasion to educate the representatives about emerging opportunities in resource development, cargo shipping and tourism for Alaskans and the entire region.

“It will be my first trip to Iceland and to see for myself how they as a nation have become almost entirely independent of outside energy sources. They rely on geothermal and hydro for just about all of their energy needs, and have been able to utilize that to the benefit of their country and their economy. I’m looking forward to learning lots and coming back to share with Alaskans.”
