Murkowski on New Iran Sanctions
U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) released the following statement in response to the new sanctions imposed on Iran, over the country’s recent ballistic missile tests.
“I applaud the administration’s move to implement sanctions against organizations involved in Iran’s ballistic missile program. I had contacted the previous administration with grave concerns about this program and expressed my view that it violates UN Security Council resolutions. America must remain vigilant against a nation that tests missiles that bear the phrase ‘Israel must be wiped out.’ These newest sanctions are a step in the right direction against the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.”
Background: Senator Murkowski was an original co-sponsor of S.2725, the Iran Ballistic Missile Sanctions Act which would have required the previous administration to impose sanctions on Iran.
