Murkowski Launches #AKThanks Campaign, Engages Alaskans
Senator’s Focus on Blessings Will Culminate with Tuesday Premiere of Her “Appreciating Alaska” Mini-Documentary
WASHINGTON, DC — With Thanksgiving less than a week away, Senator Lisa Murkowski today is inviting Alaskans to focus on what they are grateful for, by starting a social media campaign to initiate a statewide conversation to ‘accentuate the positive.’ The Senator will invite all Alaskans on Facebook and Twitter to share their thoughts and stories, contributing daily the things she is thankful for. On Tuesday, Murkowski will share the recent “Appreciating Alaska” video project she created with the Alaska Channel.
“Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the negative things or the things that bug us, but that’s why we have Thanksgiving: to catch up with loved ones and take a moment to reflect on all the good we enjoy – whether it’s our families, culture, abundant resources and incredible beauty,” said Murkowski. “Since everything is bigger in Alaska, I think that we should do Thanksgiving bigger, and set aside more than one day – so I’m inviting Alaskans to take this chance to remind ourselves and one another about all there is to celebrate in our lives.”
The campaign will consist of every Alaskan online who wants to participate – via pictures, messages or videos via Twitter or Facebook – using the hashtag “#AKThanks.’ Several participating Alaskans’ posts, pictures, tweets or stories will be shared via news release when Senator Murkowski’s “Appreciating Alaska” premieres on Tuesday.
