Murkowski Issues Statement on Attack in France
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski issued the following statement on the terror attack that occurred in Nice, France last night:
“Our hearts are with the people of France and all those who were affected by this heinous terrorist attack. We are grieving, praying, and sending strength to everyone who lost friends and family and the injured that are still fighting for their lives.
“Officials say 84 individuals have been killed, 202 people wounded, with more than 50 in critical condition. We lost two Americans, a father, Sean Copeland of Texas, and his son Brodie were among the dozens killed.
“There’s still so much we don’t know, but sadly this attack is yet another reminder of the continued dangers posed by terror groups to our global security. This was a horrific act of violence and we must do everything we can to fight against these attacks.
“Not only do we need to stand with our ally France, we must all stand together and actively work on stopping terrorists in their tracks and preventing the spread of violence and extremism throughout the world.”
