“To all of you on Veterans Day, this year is different as many of our Veterans Day ceremonies are cancelled or as we follow new guidance due to COVID-19. But it doesn’t take a big ceremony or long speeches to honor those who have dedicated their life in service to America. Whether you’re attending an in-person event, joining a virtual celebration, or offering a simple ‘thank you’ to a veteran, I encourage everyone to find their own way to honor the brave men and women who have answered the call to serve. They have sacrificed their safety, their time, and so much more in the name of America’s freedom and protection.
“Close to 70,000 veterans live among us in Alaska, more veterans per capita than any other state—70,000 men and women who have shown commitment, strength, and perseverance for the sake of the freedoms we enjoy. We honor them for their devotion to duty, both to Alaska and to our great nation.
“Today and every day we pay tribute to all our veterans who have fought and served honorably—whether in times of war or in times of peace. You are our heroes. Thank you.”
