Murkowski Congratulates Lori Wing-Heier on Bipartisan Health Policy Leadership Award
U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) applauded the announcement of Lori Wing-Heier, Director of the State of Alaska Division of Insurance, on being selected for the 2018 Bipartisan Health Policy Leadership Award. Senator Murkowski nominated Wing-Heier for the national award given by the Alliance for Health Policy, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to educating individuals on gaining a better understanding on health policy. Wing-Heier is being honored with this award alongside Maryland State Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk, who has represented Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties for over ten years.
“Ms. Wing-Heier has nearly thirty years of experience in the insurance industry, as both a broker and an agent. As Division Director, Wing-Heier oversees and enforces the division's mission to regulate the insurance industry to protect Alaskan consumers. She has worked in a bipartisan manner with both the state and federal government on finding innovative solutions to the cost of health insurance,” Senator Murkowski said. “I was proud to nominate Lori Wing-Heier as she has led efforts to stabilize the market, such as creating the Alaska Reinsurance Program, which has since become a model for other states to provide more stable and affordable healthcare. Lori is very deserving of this honor.”
Wing-Heier will formally be presented with the award at the 2018 Alliance for Health Policy's Annual Dinner in Washington, D.C. on October 2.
