Murkowski Congratulates Drue Pearce on PHMSA Appointment
U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski, (R-AK), today released the following statement after Drue Pearce was appointed to be Deputy Administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) within the U.S. Department of Transportation. PHMSA oversees the safe transportation of energy and hazardous materials within the United States.
“I’ve known Drue for many years, from our time working together at Bank of the North in Fairbanks,” Murkowski said. “She is a wonderful advocate for Alaska and understands the unique challenges of safely transporting oil, natural gas, and other critical materials in remote, rural communities. With her deep experience, Drue will do a fantastic job not just for Alaskans, but for all Americans.”
Pearce previously served in the administration of former President George W. Bush as Senior Advisor to the Secretary for Alaska Affairs at the Department of the Interior and as the first Federal Coordinator for the Alaska Gasline project. Prior to those appointments, Pearce represented Anchorage in the Alaska State Legislature for more than a decade, including two terms as Senate President.
