Murkowski Comments on Budget Deal

U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) issued the following statement regarding the budget deal reached by administration negotiators and congressional leadership:

“While this budget agreement is far from perfect, it reflects real compromise.  It prioritizes our nation’s defense and our veterans and puts reasonable constraints on non-defense spending.  It avoids controversial riders, reduces the prospect of a government shutdown, and allows us to move forward in the appropriations process.  I commend the work of those in the administration and all those who worked to get to this point. It marks real progress,” said Senator Murkowski. “With so much uncertainty at the state level, Alaskans need and deserve the stability this two-year agreement will provide.  I look forward to analyzing this budget deal in greater detail and will work with my fellow appropriators on both sides of the aisle to advance a budget for Fiscal Year 2020 as soon as possible.”
