Murkowski Appointed to Military Construction, VA, and Transportation Conference Committee

Leadership Position Will Give Alaskans a Voice at Negotiating Table

U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) was selected to serve on the Conference Committee tasked to reconcile the differences between the House of Representatives and Senate versions of the funding bills for military construction, Veterans Affairs, and transportation. The legislation provides resources to support military construction, veterans’ benefits and programs, and transportation projects critical to Alaska. The legislation also includes funding to combat the Zika virus.

“Through this leadership position I have the ability to ensure the provisions the delegation secured to address Alaska’s unique needs and priorities are protected in the final bill,” said Murkowski. “Alaskans now have a strong voice at the negotiating table as we work to provide much-needed funds to support our veterans and boost construction projects in the state.”

Both the Senate version, H.R. 2577, and the House version, H.R. 4974, passed on May 19, 2016.
