Murkowski Announces Details for Town Hall Meeting on Health Care in Anchorage
Town Hall Meetings Also to be Held in Wasilla and Soldotna
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, today announced that her town hall meeting on health care will be held in Anchorage on Thursday, August 20, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at A.J. Dimond High School.
“I have heard from thousands of Alaskans about the health care proposals currently being debated in Congress,” said Murkowski. “As a member of the Senate Health Committee, I voted against the Democrat bill that passed the committee last month. There were many problems with that bill, the biggest being the staggering cost – over $1 trillion dollars that would leave as many as 34 million people without coverage. Health care will be at the top of our agenda when Congress returns from recess in September and I want to meet with as many Alaskans as I can in August to hear their thoughts before returning to Washington.”
Sen. Murkowski will also hold town hall meetings in Wasilla on Friday, August 28, and in Soldotna on Saturday, August 29. Details of those meetings will be announced once they are finalized and will also be posted on Sen. Murkowski’s website, under the upcoming events tab. Sen. Murkowski held a town hall meeting last week in Fairbanks.
