Alaska Delegation Announces Grants to Alaska Programs
Washington, D.C. - The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following grants awarded to communities in the State of Alaska:
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services:
- $385,170 to the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services for the Alaska Tuberculosis elimination and laboratory project.
U.S. Department of Transportation:
The U.S. Department of Transportation has selected the following projects to share in $32 million of funding for public transportation on Indian Reservations:
- Asa'carsarmiut Tribe - $223,000 for the construction of a dock, a water taxi, and purchase of one vehicle
- Anvik Department of Transportation - $25,000 for planning studies to determine public transportation options within the tribe.
- Crooked Creek - $115,698 for the purchase of one vehicle, garage construction, and restoration of a bus and $55,227 for operating assistance to help pay agency overhead expenses including staff and driver salaries and fuel to assist tribe continue to operate public transit services.
- Chickaloon Native Village - $291, 931 for one bus and operating assistance to help pay agency overhead expenses including staff and driver salaries and fuel to assist tribe continue to operate public transit services.
- Gulkana Village - $288,500 for operating assistance to help pay agency overhead expenses including staff and driver salaries and fuel to assist tribe continue to operate public transit services.
- Gwichyaa Zhee Gwich'in Tribal Government - $25,000 for planning studies to determine public transportation options within the tribe.
- Kasigluk Department of Transportation - $25,000 for planning studies to determine public transportation options within the tribe.
- Manley Village - $140,000 to purchase a new bus and $127,730 for operating assistance to help pay agency overhead expenses including staff and driver salaries and fuel to assist tribe continue to operate public transit services.
- Nome Eskimo Community - $25,000 for planning studies to determine public transportation options within the tribe.
- Seldovia Village Tribe - $475,000 for the construction of a dock and pier and $200,000 for operating assistance to help pay agency overhead expenses including staff and driver salaries and fuel to assist tribe continue to operate public transit services.
- Tetlin Tribe - $120,000 for the construction of a garage, the purchase of one vehicle, garage construction and the restoration of a bus and $216,470 for one bus and operating assistance to help pay agency overhead expenses including staff and driver salaries and fuel to assist tribe continue to operate public transit services.
- Sitka Tribe of Alaska - $269,791 for operating assistance to help pay agency overhead expenses including staff and driver salaries and fuel to assist tribe continue to operate public transit services.
- Tlingit & Haida Central Council - $$25,000 for planning studies to determine public transportation options within the tribe.
