Delegation Announces Grants and Contracts to Alaska Programs
Washington, D.C. - The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following grants awarded to communities in the State of Alaska:
U.S. Department of Agriculture
- $113,288 to the Gulkana Village Council for preliminary cost analysis associated with the preparation of a preliminary engineering report and an environmental report for a proposed project of a new water supply well, water treatment facility and water storage tank upgrades
U.S. Department of Education:
- $10,211 to the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development to help pay for 250 Advanced Placement (AP) and 45 International Baccalaureate (IB) exams for low-income students
U.S. Department of Homeland Security:
- $106,208 to the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department for operations and safety
- $48,607 to the City of Seward Fire Department for operations and safety
U.S. Department of Health & Human Services
- $294,165 to the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault for Community-Based Primary Prevention Programs
- $339,145 to the Council of Athabascan Tribal Government for the Fort Yukon Health Center
U.S. Department of Transportation:
- $85,833 to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities to develop and deploy a program to increase transit awareness throughout Alaska. This would include components recognizing the connection between community transportation and employment, economic development, energy use and environmental concerns
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD):
The following formula allocations for the Indian Housing Block Grant were made available by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009. The grants may be used for new construction, acquisition, rehabilitation, including energy efficiency and conservation, and infrastructure development. They may also be used to leverage private sector financing for new construction, renovation and energy retrofit investments. These grant funds will be distributed to the respective housing authority for each tribe.
