KTVF: Senator Murkowski speaks at Annual Spring Luncheon, addresses Pebble Mine

Outside of the event there were protesters speaking out against Pebble Mine, who wanted the senator to hear their voices. "We need her to not just delay the process but end the process and make sure that we have a say and that the process is transparent and we are really protecting our resources and our people and the things that fill our freezers every day and not just an agency that has no interest in listening to us," said Alyssa Quintyne, Community Organizer with the Alaska Center.
Murkowski answered a question from the audience regarding Pebble Mine and addressed the concerns over the impact to fish habitats.
She said it can't be a project that sacrifices one resource for another. "I have challenged the regulators, I have challenged the pebble developers, and have said, if you cannot ensure that this project can advance in a manner that is safe and that will ensure that our fisheries are not negatively impacted than this project shouldn't be allowed to proceed," said Murkowski.
After the luncheon, Murkowski traveled to Anchorage to speak at the Alaska Oil and Gas Association Conference.
